better place is a painting about ending one juncture and moving on to the next.  a turning point.
drove six hours to visit my father in Little Elm, Texas.   i pulled into the long driveway as the majestic sun was setting so i sat on the hood to watch this amazing event.  i noticed my grill had captured a large dragonfly and was injured severely.  we sat together on the hood, the dragon fly buzzed in circles (couldn't fly) while i smoked the last cigarette of my life and the day was approaching close.  the illumination of the setting sun was dark and light simultaneous.

this painting was completed a year and a half ago, so i thought.  i revisited this piece because i felt the illumination was not totally correct in capturing that specific moment.

must mention that i saw humor in the event of my father not wanting me take the dying dragonfly to my bedroom.  childhood flashback.
